The ‘Able Art’ exhibition will be displayed in ‘Back Space’ arts venue at the Art Gallery of Ballarat from 2nd – 9th of December between 10am – 2pm.
The exhibition is an initiative from the City of Ballarat and Sister City Inagawa in partnership with Arthur Creative and the Inagawa International Association in an exchange of artworks by artists with disabilities.
Earlier this year artists with a disability from Ballarat and Inagawa were invited to create art works with the potential of being displayed as part of a joint exhibition in Japan and Australia. Two visual arts workshops led by local arts practitioners, Dawn Lim and Emma Barrance engaged 25 – 30 Ballarat artists. Selected art pieces were then sent to Japan, and featured alongside the works of Japanese artists with a disabilities in Inagawa’s ‘Able Art’ exhibition in August.
The exhibition has now returned to Ballarat and will now be displayed as part of the community activities in the lead up to International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) on December 3rd.
